Classification Essay

Studying is something that everyone does or should have done at some point in their life. Depending on the person and their lifestyle depends on the method of studying they will be doing. There are three different studying methods, one for the high achievers, and one for the ones that just want to pass and one for the lazy or don't care. Now for me, I am sure I have been categorized in each of those studying methods. It all depends on what is going on in my life and everything.

There are some people that like to always stay ahead of the game and be on top of everything. Getting a bad grade on something or not doing so well isn’t something that they want to happen. It seems to be that these high achievers are always going to try their hardest to pass everything. Occasionally there will be people that try really hard but sometimes just on the things that really matters or are something big. With this method the students will take the notes, read the material given, keep looking over notes and will do this long before the test or whatever it is they are taking.

In high school there had been some classes that didn’t really mean that much to me. This means I just wanted to pass the class and that’s it. When things don’t mean anything to you, you try to avoid it or not deal with it all that much. One of that classes that I didn’t care too much for was Spanish II. I had already taken the first class, which yes I know there is different information that we can learn but it was all based off the first class. So for the tests I would just quickly look over the notes the night before and double check some things right before the test was given.

This last method of studying isn’t studying at all. Either they don’t care about anything and will make answers up on the test or they just are really comfortable with testing by just listening to what is told to them. There was only one class that I did this in, and it wasn’t because I didn’t care about anything, it was because I was comfortable with the information that was just told to me. The class was Early Childhood and Parenting, so I knew most of it from growing up around everyone having babies and from me babysitting for a long time. Most of the information I thought was common sense also so there was another reason for not wanting to really study.

Many people study in different ways, but they may use more than one method as I explained, kind of like how I am. I am pretty sure I don't use the same method each time. Just depends on how I am feeling and everything else that is going on. I have studied like each one of these at least once during my student career. Everyone is different and will have their own explanations for why and how they study the way they do.

  1. You give a little of your own experience in the tag end of grafs 3 & 4, but we need more of that. The only way an essay like this can work is if it's absolutely full of individuality, examples, stories; otherwise, you're left explaining to the reader something we already know.

So, you've got a topic and outline--try a rewrite where you really write about yourself with a strong intro and outro too.
