Graf 16 Reaction to Sample Classification Essays

These essays were exactly what I thought they were going to be. No mystery. This type of essay almost seems to be easy or flow really well once you get the right topic. You think of a good topic you want to write about, classify it into three different parts which give you the body of the essay and then wrap it up. Although that is how most essays are written I believe classifying different points and writing about them is a better way to write or come up with the words to say.

I was at home in what my dad calls the "man cave" which is just a living room in the house that is his. While laying on the couch watching "Flash Point" I had remembered that school vacation was over and that I have English assignments due every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. So I got online to check out what I needed to be writing. The whole Cause Essay was due. So there I was still intently watching my show, and somewhat trying to remember the details that had taken place the day that I got into a car accident. I wish I could have remember a few more details that could have made the story a little more interesting, or maybe even juiced it up a little bit, but instead I just wrote about what had happened. The truth and nothing more.

Cause Essay #1

Car accidents happen for many different reasons, but they always have many factors that cause them. Some people even think of things that cause accidents. Alcohol, too tired, the roads are bad, raining hard, not paying attention, speeding, etc. Now the car accident I was in wasn't exactly too bad. It was scary for sure but not a lot of damage was done to the car and I wasn't hurt too badly. I was heading into Hudson to pick up one of my younger cousins because he wanted to stay the night with me, from cheering practice. I was running a little late so I was trying to get a hold of my aunt that way I could tell her that I was coming. And of course it was cheering season, which meant winter and snow and ice. Those three factors together do not mix well at all, and that is how I ended up in a snow bank.

Trying to get a hold of my aunt, that is one part where I went wrong. Now that I think back to it I probably should have called or sent my aunt a text telling her I was going to be late. But no, I wasn't really thinking. I thought, hey if I leave now and try to get in touch with her I won't be extremely late. So off I went, leaving Corinth and headed to Hudson, not fully paying attention as I was using my phone to talk to my aunt.

It is cheering season, and with cheering season is winter. All the snow, ice the horrible winter roads. I figured that the roads wouldn't be too bad, where it was around noon time. I thought that the sun would have melted everything and the roads would just be wet and not icy or slippery. Boy was I wrong. Most of the ice had been melted but there were still some spots of ice around and there was some slush. Slush is the nasty stuff because that is what pulls your vehicle the way you don't want it to. Even going slow the slush could take you for a ride.

When people are running late only one thing comes to mind. Hurry. Normally I wouldn't have to hurry but my aunt had to be somewhere which meant I had to leave right after practice. Which I couldn't exactly do. Once cheering practice was done, we had to pick up mats and take care of everything so the next team could come in after. And that is the start of what made me late. Going faster than what the speed limit was with the conditions of the road and not fully paying attention is how I found myself in a snowbank. I hadn't seen the slush which I had hit not exactly going slow, it brought my car to the right and took my right front tire slightly off the pavement. I brought my car back up on the pavement but it was icy there which swung my car completely around and slammed right into a snowbank.

Yes car accidents are a hassle and most of the time the driver's fault but with some help from maybe nature or other drivers. Since my accident, even though it wasn't horrible, I have paid much more attention to everything going on around me while I am driving. No accidents since then, just little scares when the roads have some ice on them.

Graf 14 Isearch Research Plan

For my research I can ask my parents, aunts, uncles, friends that are independent, anybody that has a family or are living on their own. They should all be able to give me information on what they did, and problems or difficulties they ran into. A problem I think I might have is maybe not getting the answers that I want or need.

What I already know about Isearch

My motivaion for writing about this topic is that it is interesting, and it happens to most peeople. Also I am at the age where I can start my journey on becoming independent. Becoming an independent person is quite important at least to me.

When we are becoming independent, technically aren't we still dependent on some things?
- What other things would we be dependent on?
When is a good or bad time to become independent?
What are some steps to begin this process?
- Do these steps have to be in any order, if so how?
Why exactly do people strive for this?
- What achievements do we get from this?

I know that to an extent we are dependent on some things like jobs and the people that gives us those jobs. We depend on other people to be there for us when things get rough, maybe just to talk. I think that during or after college would be a good time to become independent, by then you will have some experience. Any earlier and I think that you may have issues trying to make it out in the real world. But that is just my opinion. I think that depending on the person and how they are depends on how they want to begin this process. Some people may want to start it a different way, so I don't believe there needs to be an specific order.

Second Intro to Cause Essay

You always think, why me? All the bad things have to happen at the wrong time. You are running late, and that's where things start to go bad. One bad thing just leads to another. Especially while driving and being late. It being winter and not exactly paying too much attention. Everyone always says that they are safe drivers, or they have been driving long enough they don't need to pay attention to the rules or anything like that, and that's when they start to lose "control" almost. Some people feel like nothing bad would ever happen to them, until it does and then they wonder why, why did something like that have to happen to me?

Graf 13 Cause Essay Reactions

I like reading essays that other people have written because it always gives me a little better idea of what we are supposed to be writing about. These essays seem like the introduction and the body of the essay are what causes the outcome or the conclusion. The body is just events or whatever that leads to the ending of the situation or story.

Graf 12 Place Graf

A couple of years ago my parents took my friend and I to Bar Harbor for the weekend, and they were going to let us decide the plans that we were going to do while we were there. The only thing that they really had decided was where we were going to stay. They told us that they had already reserved a place that we were staying. A cottage. The first thing I thought of when my mother had said cottage, was a decent size place possibly a log cabin type of cottage, that resembled a little home with maybe a hot tub or something somewhere near. We were so excited to be able to spend the weekend in a place like that. We pulled into the place where we were staying, it was nothing like we had expected. There were a bunch of little cottages that could have been a third of the size of a small apartment. We got inside and it seemed much smaller. There was a small porch on the front that had two chairs on it. Once you actually walked inside, there was a kitchen, or what they would call a kitchen, it was just big enough for a small counter with a sink and stove, and a very small table. Off to the right was a bathroom, which didn't have much breathing room. If you walked straight from the kitchen there was a room right ahead and a room to the left. The room that was straight ahead had a full bed in it with dresser and tv, and the room off the left had two single beds squeezed in there with a dresser and a tv also. This place was cute, just wasn't what we had been expecting at all. We actually ended up loving the place and the things that we had decided to do that weekend.

Graf 11 Real Life Research

My real life research would have to be about buying the car that I have now. This would be my third car, the first one we sold so we could get a better running one, and the second one had broken down on me. Not only did I have to think about the things that the car needed, but also what I wanted, price and the condition of the car. I decided that I didn't want to buy a brand new car yet so a used one was fine with me. So I began my journey looking online at craigslist. Some of the criteria we needed was four doors, automatic, cup holders, low mileage, doesn't need a lot of work, and didn't have a lot of rust. Now I wanted a four door because I do take my cousins quite often and it's easier to get them in and buckle them up in a four door. Cup holders may seem like a silly thing to have on a list for a car, but I always have an iced coffee with me so a cup holder was a must. My dad had helped me in this process of finding a car where he used to be a mechanic and works at a parts store now. So for a couple of months we looked online and found a few cars that we were going to go look at once we both had days off together. So one weekend we both had off and just decided we were going to just go for a drive and see what we find. We had drove not even 15 minutes and saw a car. We stopped to look at it, and it was perfect. My dad like the looks of the body and how there wasn't any rust. And I loved that there were cup holders and it was a four door. The price was not bad either. So we took the number that was on the sign and decided to go grab something to eat. Before we got our food we had called the guy and he said we could go pick it up the next day. So needless to say something as simple as car shopping, isn't really all that simple. You do have to do your own research on the things you want the car to have, how it drives and maybe even the kind of car it is.

Isearch Background 2

When we are young, I believe that is when we all start to have some type of independence. When we help our parents out around the house is a good start to learn. Showing or having some responsibility is good. When I was little I would so some things around the house, to help out and show that I could handle those things. Obviously I did have to clean my room, which is almost a chore for every little kid. My room would always be clean and so organized. Another chore I tried to do was laundry, which I didn't exactly succeed at. I did have a good attempt at it, but I would just fill the washer so full with clothes, which I found out that you weren't supposed to do. But at least I tried to help. These chores may not seem like it will help in the end, but it will. They help you learn to do things for yourself when there isn't help available.

Person Graf 10

People rely on things that shouldn’t matter, like their looks. This is when they cake on the make up or dress like they normally wouldn’t. Everyone can be beautiful without any of this. But when they start thinking that they can’t do anything or have friends or be loved without these materialistic things, or not being they is when they become so called ugly. I think that everyone should just be themselves and not hide behind those certain things, and open up and let everyone see who they really are and they will be liked for doing that. Marie is in high school, and she used to not really care what others thought of her but recently she changed her mind about that all. She now hides behind the make up and things she normally wouldn’t do for others and not her. She believes that nobody could like her for who she is. He and I are close so I was a little angry that she felt that way. So I told her “Well nobody is worth it, if they don’t like you for the real you then too bad, they don’t need you in their life.” I just do not understand why she has to hide behind everything. I just say “Take me or leave me, I’m not going to be someone else just to make you happy, I’m gonna be me.”

Isearch Motivation

I wanted to write about choosing the right career to maybe dig a little deeper, and see if Medical Radiography is the way I want to go. Writing this Isearch, I believe that will make me think a little more and lean a little more towards of what I am supposed to do for a career.

· Am I choosing the right major?

o What are the options that I felt like I wanted?

§ How did they become options?

o What ways did I go about choosing a major?

o How do we choose between major correctly?

· How do I know I am making the right choice?

o What events/ideas led me to making this choice?

§ Were they bad or good ideas?

Isearch Background

We all have been young in our lives and when we are that little we aren’t really sure of what we want to do when we grow up. But we think we do so we play pretend and usually act out (or play) that particular part. I remember at first I always wanted to be a teacher. As a child it seemed like the best job in the world. I also remember wanting to be a lawyer. I wasn’t really sure what they did at the time but I knew they had to argue and I was pretty good at that. When we are young like that we really don’t know what type of career that we are going to want to do or take part in. As we grow older we go through experiences that guide us to what we may believe is our career path. I have gone back and forth between a couple of majors, and some of them aren’t really that closely linked. There is Sonography, Radiography, Early Childhood Development and Nursing. As of right now I would like to be a Sonographer.
When I was younger I did play doctor, so maybe that could be one of the “little hints” as to what I could possibly do. Sonography does deal with pregnant women and the ultrasounds. But when I was younger and family members were pregnant I loved to be around them. To feel the baby kick and move around was just so amazing to me. It was a little miracle. Being so young it just simply fascinated me.

Graf 9 Object

At my house we have a couple things from my Meme’s house (she had passed away a couple years ago). These items that we have are a couple of chests and a stuffed bear. But these items are not just some objects that have no meaning. Even though those objects weren’t directly involved they bring back memories of her. I remember going over to stay with her, and we would always watch soaps together and I would eat saltine crackers all day. I would lug wood into her house for the stove, which she always had going. There was never a time that that house was not 90 degrees or hotter. She had kept tons of coloring books there and all of us kids would color in them and write our names so she knew who had colored them. These items do not make me sad though, they remind me of all the good times that we all had together.
