Example Essay

My sister and I always deny that we are not alike. Whether it's looks, how we act or anything like that. Everyone always says that we look alike and act so much alike but we deny it. I can say that attitude wise I am not as bad as my sister but we are alike way more than we think. A couple of examples are our looks, how we act, and our personalities.

Of course we look alike we are sisters, but I have seen some families where the siblings look nothing alike. We used to deny looking alike for the longest time. But there is no more denying it. We both have the same skin tone and we tan up easily. Brown hair and brown eye, the only difference is I have my hair permed and its long and Katie (my sister) has highlights and short hair.

Another example that Katie and I are alike is how we act. Serious but yet a little immature. Just depends on the situation that we are in. We just know how to still have fun but still be able to get things done. Although when we are together we may seem a little bit too foolish but that is just because we like to have fun. We like to joke around, and it gets worse as we get tired because then everything is just funny to us, so then we can’t stop laughing.

Now our personalities are another thing that makes us alike. We are outgoing and can be nice. But when we have something to say we will say it. We don’t care about what people think unless they mean something to us. And sometimes we can be impatient and get angry at stupid things.

These three things are only a few examples of how we are alike. There are a lot more but they are little details. If it weren’t for the age difference, and the little bit of differences in our looks we could be the same person.

Graf 19 Reaction to In-Class Essay

In a way time was and wasn't an issue. An hour is fine to be able to write a well written essay, the only thing is trying to come up with what you are going to write and how you are going to write it. To me that takes up too much time. I also feel like it was hard to come up with the a topic that didn't seem too dull. Although we did have the topics you picked out for us, but we needed like a sub category.

Tools Essay

A multi-tool pocket knife is a tool that has many uses. This particular tool is a good thing to have with you just in case. I think the three main parts or uses for the tool are the pliers, knife and the screwdriver. This is so much easier than having to carry around all three of those different tools.

The screwdriver part can be used for whatever it is that needs to be done with a screw, whether it’s loosening or tightening. Pliers and the knife on the other hand can be used for multiple things. I personally would use the pliers when I went fishing. To get the hook uncaught from the mouth of the fish. But we all are different and would use pliers for something different. The knife can basically be used whenever. Opening boxes, cutting whatever needs to be cut. The use of the knife could almost be endless.

The upside to having a pocket knife is that it is small. It has all these little tools that are very handy that is compacted into something small enough to fit in your pocket. Which means you can carry it anywhere (well almost anywhere) as a just in caser, instead of carrying around a whole toolbox or something with a variety of tools. Also there are different types of pocket knives that do different things or have different tools in them.

A downside to just carrying a pocket knife with you is that it might not be as effective as the real tool. With the tool being smaller it might be a bit harder to use. There is always that possibility of breaking that tool right off from the base of the pocket knife just because it is so small and might not be able to withstand what the actual size tool does.

All in all entire multi-tool pocket knife is a good thing to have with you and use. As long as it’s not a big project that needs heavy duty usage of the tool it should be good to use. But they usually do more than just cut because of the other tools that are contained in them. A handy little tool that everyone should have.

"How Do I Go about Becoming Independent?" Yahoo! Answers. Yahoo!, 2008. Web. 15 Mar. 2012. <http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080121215820AAH8jwr>

This website goes along very well with what my Isearch is about. It gives the feedback from a couple of different people on what they think people should do and of some things that they had done. It gives some of the "real" advice of what people have actually tried to do.

"How to Become Independent from Your Parents." Mahalo.com. Web. 15 Mar. 2012. <http://www.mahalo.com/how-to-become-independent-from-your-parents/>

This website is more of what people should do, not what people actually do or intent to do. These steps are more like a standard or general view that anybody could start with. It gives a good idea or a good way to start the process that many people take.

Family Matters- Becoming Independent. Web. 15 Mar. 2012.

This one is almost like that other website by giving general information. It talks about how to help out your parents. The basics of what teenagers normally do.

Isearch Progress Report

The research for my Isearch is going pretty well. Reading through some of the sites, taking notes and trying to organize it all on how I want to write it. Coming along pretty well.

Contrast Essay

We all know that people are different in their own little ways. But to my family and I we all see each other as definitely different and not really all that close to the norms. I don't see myself as a normal girl or even close to what a "normal" girl is like. I think that there are some big differences between me and a typical girl. With stereotyping involved, a normal girl would be someone who dresses up; acts all classy, wears make up, isn't really into outdoor activities and most likely cares a lot about appearance. But not I. I am almost the complete opposite.

I enjoy being outside which a typical girl would most likely enjoy being outside also just not doing the same activities. I would like to be out on the four wheeler just for a ride or going mudding, going fishing, camping or anything like that. I would see a typical girl just outside to be soaking up the sun or walking. They usually get grossed or freaked out by anything that would get them dirty or anything. But none of that bothers me at all; I think all of those things are fun. I just enjoy all of it.

Now clothes, they may not be too much different. I do have some clothes that a typical girl would wear. Like the name brand clothes, or the cute jeans. Also some dress up clothes and summer dresses. But I also do not wear those every day. Some days I just like to wear sweatpants or yoga pants and a t-shirt or sweatshirt. Usually the typical girl wouldn’t wear those types of things out, probably only inside. They would have to get dressed to go to the store or something. Whereas I could really care less. I also like to wear plaid/flannel shirts. They are my favorite. Along with my work boots. Those two things are also something you don’t really see the typical girl wearing.

One of the things that I don’t understand is make-up. I don’t see why girls wear it or say they have to wear it. I think it is the most useless thing in the world. Most of the time girls wear it to attract attention from guys. But does that mean they are going to wear the make-up all the time to keep that attraction? If they don’t like you without make-up then too bad, they are with you for the wrong reasons. I don’t wear make-up at all. And when would I wear it anyways? To class when I’m taking notes and learning from the teacher, or when I’m at the nursing home doing my job? Ah neither one. It just isn’t one of my priorities.

Girls. They worry about things that they don’t need to worry about. They just need to not care so much about the things that don’t really matter. That’s how I feel. But then again, I am different.

Contrast Intros

Intro 1:

But I'm not a mess. I usually don't dress up unless I need to. I love my jeans and work boots or flip flops. I never wear make up, I just don't see the point of it.

Intro 2:
Each and one of us are different, that is not new information. But we have our ways of how we are different and not like anyone else. One of the things that show that I am different is that I would rather be outside with the guys four wheeling than shopping with the girls. Just the way I am.
