Process Essay

At my work we take care of the
residents that come in and are staying at the facility. We have to clean them
up, feed them, care for them and just help them whenever they need it. Yes we
are taught on how to do things when we went to school but sometimes people
change how they do things, but here I am going to explain how I do things.

First I decide what resident I am
going to go wash up and get ready for bed. Usually I talk with the other people
that I am working and see who we were going to get done. We usually try to make
a plan and try to stick to it. Then I go and grab the right size brief and the
linen that is needed. For each different size brief there is a different color.
The linen we need is a couple wash cloths and a towel. Also you may need a
nightgown as long as they don’t have their own in their room.

Next I grab the water basin that
they have in their rooms put a little soap in it and fill it up with warm
water. I put the washcloths in the basin and swirl it around a little bit to
make sure that all the soap is mixed in. First I wash their face and hands, and
just work the way down the body. I put on the nightgown and make sure they are
covered. And I also change the brief so they are all nice and clean. Depending
on the resident there are some creams or powders that we need to put on them.

After I get them all clean, I usually
boost them up in bed so their feet aren’t touching the foot board and get them
all comfy. Some of the residents we have to turn every two hours so if they
need to be turned I roll them on their sides and put some pillows behind them
so they are propped up.

We all have our ways of doing
something. But if you do it every day you tend to get down a routine. With this
you get so particular with how you do things and don’t want to stray away from
that. When there are new people that come into work and they have to orient
with me, I try to show them the way I do things and tell them they can have
their own routine just as long as they do things correctly.

  1. Intro and outro here are pretty much interchangeable and that's a problem. Try a rewrite of graf 5, maybe by describing a new person's reaction to the process as they are learning it.

  2. Graf 5:
When I show people the way i get residents ready, they usually don't mind. Most of the time they will actually do the same thing or almost the same thing. But there are also some people that do the exact oppisite. They try to find the quicker way out, which is not really a good thing, you will just have to go back and do it all again. Doing things the right way first will save time in the end.

  3. I don't see a lot of difference between the two versions, but maybe it's not worth fussing over. I'll take it.
